Scotch Boyz, a Jamaican brand that supplies unique and appetizing sauces was able to break into international markets and boost its brand awareness and income after the cohort III completion of JAMPRO’s Export Max programme.
Co-Founder, Drew Gray said before starting the programme, the company participated in a Trade Mission to Canada in 2019 and secured its first distributor.
“So that was our first entry into the export market and so when we heard about the Export Max initiative, it was a no-brainer to apply,” he said.
Drew shared that the programme directly bolstered the exporting efforts of the business through its various support agents. This included guidance on preparing pitches to retailers and tracking the business progress monthly.
To date, Scotch Boyz products are also available in Target stores in the United States and continue to attract new customers.
“I would recommend it to anyone who is in business [who] wants to grow their business through export. Whether you are a start-up or an established business, there is definitely a way Export Max can benefit your business,” he stated.
Chief Executive Officer of Scotch Boyz, Matthew Wallace added, “We’re very proud to say that our products are 100% Jamaican. The only thing that’s imported are the caps and bottles itself.”
The brand carries a line of sauces and jerk seasonings including its signature Scotch Bonnet Sauce, Hot Pepper Sauce, Island BBQ Sauce, Jamaican Jerk Sauce, Jamaican Habanero Pepper Sauce and Honey Scotch Sauce.
The company began in 2015 after demand for the sauces grew exponentially following a successful grill cook-off competition.
Export Max is an international award-winning programme that aims to strengthen exporters and export-ready Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the provision of capacity building, business development and market penetration support.
