Over 800 members of the Jamaican Private Sector turned out for high-level meetings and discussions on global logistics at the Jamaica Logistics Hub Symposium, between January 21- 22, 2014 at the Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston.
The event was organised by the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC), the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), and the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) under the theme: ‘Jamaica Logistics Hub Symposium: ‘Transforming Jamaica’s Business Landscape’. Over the course of the two-day symposium presentations were made by experts in logistics, investors, government officials, members of the multilateral institutions and other critical stakeholders.
Among the key speakers were the Hon. Anthony Hylton, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Prof Gordon Shirley, Chairman and CEO of the Port Authority of Jamaica, Patricia Francis, former Executive Director, International Trade Centre, Mark Bedeman, Global Freight Logistics & Cargo SME, IBM, Dr Fritz Pinnock; Executive Director, Caribbean Maritime Institute (CMI), Charles Johnston, Director, Kington Logistics Centre, Marianne Etter, Director Policy & Coordination, Atlantic Gateway Secretariat, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, and Sonia Antón, Director of Marketing at the Colon Free Trade Zone, Panama
