Shullette Cox, President of the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), says the delivery of the agency’s Enterprise Developmental Export Growth (EXPORT MAX) programme is being redesigned to better suit exporters and export-ready firms.
This strategic revamping aims to better align with the needs of exporters and export-ready firms. President Cox emphasizes that this initiative is part of JAMPRO’s renewed collaboration with local enterprises, facilitated through the Ministry of Industry, Investment, and Commerce (MIIC), to prepare them for exporting or enhance their existing export capacities.
Export Max is the agency’s flagship programme aimed at providing more tailored focus, capacity building, advocacy and market penetration support to stakeholders.
During the recent Exporter Information Session on “Export Payment Options,” President Cox affirmed the program’s commitment to delivering customized services by identifying specific company needs and implementing tailored initiatives.
The session was held in collaboration with the National Export-Import Bank (EXIM Bank) of Jamaica on Tuesday, January 16 at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston.
President Cox in her address, outlined the comprehensive nature of the program which will ensure exporters receive necessary assistance for capacity improvement to meet export market demands.
“Once those improvements are made and you are ready to enter the market, JAMPRO stands ready with market penetration activities, that put you in front of potential overseas buyers, whether it’s through trade shows, ministerial export missions or business-to-business matchmaking meetings,” President Cox further stated.
The Agency’s newly forged Exporter Facilitation team will collaborate with exporters to build relationships within the export community, identify challenges, and, where possible, eliminate obstacles.
Against this backdrop, President Cox informed stakeholders that to date, the Exporter Facilitation team has engaged with over 240 inactive exporters to determine the key issues that have contributed to their inactivity.
“JAMPRO positions itself as a connector of business opportunities as we expose local entities to international markets to increase sales of Jamaican products and services. We are an advocate, working alongside micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) who are also exporters, to ensure that there are constant improvements within the process of exporting, particularly as it concerns government processes,” she stated.
To date, three cohorts of companies have successfully graduated from the EXPORT MAX programme, which is currently open for registration. Interested parties can conveniently apply online at exportmaxja.co.
