The Destination Experience Visionaries’ Summit co-founder and curator Kirk-Anthony Hamilton has welcomed the partnership of investment and export promotion agency Jamaica Promotions Corporation (Jampro) to host the three-day forum.
“We’re delighted to renew our partnership with Jampro for the second year in a row. Jampro’s team, led by President Diane Edwards and many members of the board, has been keen observers of our platform as we’ve developed over the last few years,” Hamilton told the Jamaica Observer.
The event, which was held at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston over three days ending yesterday, engaged stakeholders from the private sector, government, media and academia as they explored leadership in innovation.
The event also served as a space to connect with thought leaders, potential investors and influencers, as it will offer Jamaican and international decision makers an environment to discuss projects that could drive economic transformation and growth.
According to Hamilton, “Jampro’s involvement has definitely assisted with this objective …[which is] to drive increased innovation, investment and entrepreneurship in Jamaica by offering access to high potential networks.”
The partnership between the two is even more fitting, he believes, as the mission of the summit is perfectly aligned with that of the trade and promotions agency.
In a press release Jampro said that, as an official partner with The Destination Experience Visionaries’ Summit, it will seek to engage investors and other business representatives to boost Jamaica’s economic growth. In addition, according to the agency’s president, the collaboration will also support Jampro’s overall economic development strategy.
“By participating in fora like the Visionaries’ Summit, Jampro is able to connect the local and international business community to further encourage partnerships, which we see as crucial for the building of the economy. As we pursue various methods to strengthen our economy and diversify our sectors, it is important for us to not only think differently, but make those key connections that will bring these ideas to life and attract more business to Jamaica that will support our development,” Edwards is quoted saying.
“With this event, we believe we can achieve that, and we are happy to once again join forces with the Visionaries’ Summit as we work to cultivate Jamaica’s business brand,” she added.
On Friday Jampro hosted a panel discussion on the theme, ‘Driving the Economic Shift: Jamaica’s Growth Story’, featuring local business powerhouses, Jeffrey Hall, CEO of Jamaica Producers Ltd; Andrew Mahfood, CEO of Wisynco Group Ltd; PB Scott, chairman of Musson Group Ltd; and Chris Williams, co-founder, Proven Investments Ltd.
The Destination Experience Visionaries’ Summit has made great impact as it has developed a community controlling resources in excess of US$140 billion; and has been the source of over US$300 million in investments across various growing sectors including real estate, energy, finance and the creative industries.
