Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) President Diane Edwards (right) speaks to Dou Shicheng, Commissioner for International Cooperation at the China Development Bank (CDB) after a briefing hosted by the Agency on July 18, 2018. The briefing was held to promote Jamaica for investments from China.
The Chinese delegation, led by Mr. Hu Dongsheng, General Director of the CDB, was on a mission to Jamaica to explore opportunities for increased cooperation between Jamaica and China. The CDB team conducted meetings with various ministries and agencies of Government to gain a better understanding of the country’s economic outlook and future plans.
Ms. Edwards and Vice President of Sales and Promotions at JAMPRO, Mr. Claude Duncan, provided insight on Jamaican business opportunities and the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) climate in Jamaica. Ms. Edwards noted that Jamaica was ready to work with the CDB to finance and facilitate investment projects.
The China Development Bank is the world’s largest development finance institution, and the largest Chinese bank for foreign investment and financing cooperation, long-term lending and bond issuance.
