Delta Airlines ranked Jamaica and Mexico three times within a list of the most romantic destinations for weddings.
The list was released on the eve of Valentine’s Day.
Couples seeking the most romantic destinations to say “I do” don’t have to look far, said the US airline carrier through its Delta Vacations, the official vacation provider for Delta Air Lines.
Rivera Maya in Mexico topped number 1 on the list but look at the number of times Jamaica ranked within it!
This list is based on the number of booked hotel nights in 2017 by Delta Vacations customers with destination wedding packages, and inclusive of Delta Vacations’ destinations across Latin America, the Caribbean and the U.S.
“With year-round temperate weather, a plethora of excursions, an array of accommodations of all types and unforgettable scenic backdrops, it’s easy to see why many couples choose to get married in these destinations,” said Elizabeth Moriarty, Delta Vacations’ Vice President, Product Development.
Couples who book a flight and hotel package with Delta Vacations for their destination wedding can also receive savings and perks for their guests and themselves.
Data from the Jamaica Tourist Board states that 196,250 stopover visitors or 8.3 per cent of all stopovers in 2017 came to the island for weddings/honeymoons.
Jamaica welcomed four million passengers in 2017 which represented a record arrivals. Also the visitors spent over US$3 billion in the island or 11.7 per cent higher spend than in 2016, according to Ministry of Tourism estimates. Of the four million, 2.35 million came as stopover visitors while 1.65 million came as cruise passengers.
