SAN JUAN – The Jamaica Promotions Corporation began on Monday the second phase of an initiative that was launched in 2009 with the aim of boosting the Caribbean nation’s exports.
“No one can succeed without a plan; we believe that the coordinated effort of a National Export Strategy is crucial to developing a market-driven and globally competitive export sector,” JAMPRO President Diane Edwards said in a statement.
During the first phase, JAMPRO and other agencies identified opportunities with an eye toward directly aligning Jamaica’s export goals and actions with global demand.
The second phase consists of 195 targeted strategies and activities to be executed over the next four years by 35 agencies across five priority sectors and five cross-cutting areas.
The priority sectors are: agroprocessing and agribusiness; film and animation; mining; information technology enabled services; and light manufacturing.
