All opportunities start with a conversation…all relationships grow through being connected.
Keeping connected and relationship management go hand in hand with successful opportunity outcomes. The JAMPRO Luncheon Connect initiative was borne out of a need to engage expansion clients, and in particular clients in the ‘sexy’ and trendy Logistics space.
Media insights earlier this year indicated that Kingston Wharves Ltd. (KWL) was in expansion mode with multiple logistics and infrastructure projects being berthed and in the pipeline. This coupled with the ‘birth’ of MLSEZ (The Manufacturing, Logistics, & SEZ) team was a perfect backdrop for the launching of the JAMPRO Luncheon Connect initiative, and the hosting of our first guests- KWL. The Luncheon provided a best fit channel for good conversation around the KWL vision and how JAMPRO could support the realization. The ‘vision’ has multiple opportunities to be nurtured and facilitated by JAMPRO including KWL’s Ashenheim Modular Warehouse Complex (an Integrated Logistics project) which is currently being rolled out, and will be fully operational in December 2023.
Jamaica is positioning itself as a globally competitive logistics hub and the fourth node in the international logistics chain alongside Rotterdam, Dubai, and Singapore. Its already a major centre for logistics and transshipments and moves more cargo than any other Caribbean country. Interesting to note that in August 2023 another spoke in Jamaica’s logistics wheel became a reality – the first Floating Dock at Kingston Harbour; a ship drydocking and repair service facility. With estimated 16,000 ships operating in the Caribbean Region daily including calls to Jamaica this service should be another feather in our USP hat. The fourth node is more than an aspiration.
