Millennials still booking Jamaica for Spring Break

College kids and working millennials in the USA alike continue to choose Jamaica as a top 10 destination for Spring, according to preliminary booking info from popular online travel agency, CheapOair.

Montego Bay ranked 9th among Spring-breakers above Barcelona, Spain and Paris, France. Topping the list was Bangkok, Thailand.

Cheapoair compared data and analyzed trends on where millennials were heading this year, how much they are spending, and how these destinations have changed year over year.

“While millennials are still traveling to popular spring break destinations such as Mexico and Jamaica, booking data shows that travelers ages 21-30 are also getting more adventurous this year and heading to overseas destinations like ThailandVietnamNew Zealand, and Bali,” stated the report about long haul destinations. It cost students US$826 roundtrip to Thailand during this Spring period.

Data showed that the percentage of international travel for millennials during the months of March and April is trending upwards with a 12 per cent increase in international bookings since 2016.

Jamaica welcomed 4.3 million visitors to the island last year which represented a record number up 12 per cent over the previous year.
