JAMAICA: Jamaican Firm Looking To Export Honey To South Korea / RJR News
Jamaica’s Honey Kist Apiaries has confirmed that it is targeting the South Korean market, after receiving encouraging responses to its flavoured honey, in that Asian country.
Malcolm Fredericks, Operations Manager of Honey Kist Apiaries, was recently taken to South Korea by Jampro, Jamaica’s investment and trade promotion agency, and there he observed that “they actually like a lot of spicy foods… the spicy scotch bonnett pepper-honey was really very popular, along with the coffee-honey.”
He said he came away from the trip convinced that “there are lots of opportunities to be had there!”
Mr Fredericks revealed that his company has invested in it’s own bottling plant, which will allow it to schedule production for various export markets, including Europe and the United States.
