HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 21 (acn) Representatives of 18 companies and two trade promoting institutions of Jamaica identified on Monday in Cuba new business and investment opportunities to expand bilateral exchanges in various economic sectors.
The business mission, organized by Jampro -governmental agency for the promotion of trade and investment of Jamaica-, is the most important traveling to Cuba since 2004, according to Milena Perez, vice-president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce.
In a forum held on Monday on the occasion of the visit, Perez underlined the presence of well-known Jamaican firms in the commercialization of food and beverages, chemicals, construction materials and port technologies, among others.
Diane Edwards, president de Jampro, highlighted the Special Development Zone of Mariel and the cooperation agreements of Havana with the Caribbean Community as favorable elements to boost commercial exchanges to a higher stage.
At the end of the forum, the parties signed two new agreements, one between the chambers of commerce of Cuba and Jamaica and the other one between Jampro and the Center for the Promotion of Exports and Trade.
