Four agencies primarily responsible for Jamaica’s exports have united forces to double the country’s exports over the next four years.
They’re the Jamaica Exporters Association, the Jamaica Manufacturers Association, the Jamaica Business Development Corporation and JAMPRO.
Currently, the national export target is $1.2-billions.
The agencies are uniting to move the target to $2.5-billion by 2020.
President of JAMPRO, Diane Edwards says through a previous collaborative effort, a national strategy was developed to guide exports.
She says it involved studying the global markets to pinpoint the products that are in demand.
She says from this study, the team identified five priority areas.
Ms. Edwards says, in doubling the national export target, the collaborative effort can also achieve three major objectives.
The initiative is being dubbed ‘United for Exports’.
